Zesty Snack Mix

Zesty Snack Mix

Pretty much everyone in the U.S. eats Chex™ Party Mix, right?  Whenever I think of the Christmas season “gotta-haves”, this is always high on my list.

My family has tweaked the recipe over the years and have come up with a zippier version of this old favorite. We have banished both the Wheat Chex™ and the pretzels and have stepped up the Worcestershire sauce. Tricia says that you know you have enough Worcestershire sauce if the smell of it burns your nose when you stir the warm mix.

I’m the only one who likes nuts in the mix, and I will absolutely not give way on that matter. They are a great texture and flavor change from the crunchy-crunch of the cereals and cheese crackers.

Another must for my daughters is the banishment of the oven method. They contend that it is ridiculous to spend an hour making something in the oven when six minutes in the microwave can give the same results.

I still prefer the oven method because I think that the snack mix tastes better – richer, deeper. I think that an hour isn’t too much to ask for an excellent product. To each her own. You do you, boo.
