This is another of those recipes that has been around for a long time so, although I am certain that there was an originator of it, I can’t begin to give anyone credit for it.
If you need a more grown-up recipe starring the letter “D”, try this Dump Cake recipe. It is so GOOD and easy!
Dirt Pie
Ingredients
- 1 package oreo cookies
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened (1 stick)
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 2 (6 ounce) boxes instant pudding (I used 1 box vanilla and 1 box chocolate fudge)
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 (12 ounce) container Cool Whip (I didn't have any Cool Whip so I used 1 1/2 cups whipping cream, whipped)
- Gummi worms, optional
- candy rocks, optional
Instructions
- Chop Oreo cookies in a food processor until the cookies are finely crushed and look like dirt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the powdered sugar, butter, and cream cheese together until smooth. Set aside
- In a large bowl, blend the pudding and milk together until smooth.
- Fold the pudding and cream cheese mixtures together until smooth.
- Spread the pudding mixture evenly in a 9" x 13" pan. Pour the cookie mixture on top and spread evenly. Decorate with gummi worms and candy rocks.
Are these pictures disturbing?
How about these? Less disturbing because they are away from the grass?
Now look at these…a grandma’s delight.

Made this for my mom for Mother’s Day (she is an avid gardener, so I thought it would be perfect!). It was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Terri @ that's some good cookin'
I’m so glad that your mother enjoyed this dessert. There is also a fun way to make the same dessert in a cup except that a cookie flower is used for decoration. The flower shaped cookie with a hole in the middle is placed on the end of a bended straw. A gumdrop is added to the straw to hold the flower in place. It’s all very cute and I ought to have have done a post for mother’s day to help celebrate moms.
